Hypernova
At a time when the chasm between East and West is growing daily and misplaced hostility and lack of communication are thwarting any efforts at building bridges, it is reassuring to know that there is still one medium that remains uncorrupted by petty bigotry and short-sightedness, and transcends all issues of race, religion and ideology.
The Islamic Republic of Iran may not seem the most likely breeding ground for young up-and-coming musicians but, thanks to a few daring pioneers, doors that were seemingly locked tight by the strict moral laws have been cracked by a new generation of home-grown talent.
Out of a musical landscape dominated by more traditional Prog-rockers, Metallers and the increasingly popular electronic and hip-hop sound, an Indie band named Hypernova was born.
Now Iran is not too famous for its rock music, but these guys are going to change all that. Each member brings a different vibe and sound to the band to give it an even more unique edge. And even though they’re just another obscure band in the galaxy of musicians, their following is growing at a very fast rate, thanks mostly to their legions of underground fans who have helped spread the word.
In all reality, these guys are no different from the rest of the rockers around the world; their music is all about having a good time and just rocking your brains out. They’re not in this game for the money, fame or glory. And they’re definitely not trying to change the world…or are they?

Thirteen Things – 2
A few nice photographic memory test images I found:
Thirteen Things – 2

Today’s group on Flickr Group Roulette asks us to list "thirteen things about you." I made up a list of 27, intending to pick the top 13. After running the list past a few people, they urged me to reveal all 27. So be it!
Well, so the stinking bike wouldn’t cold start and the battery is dead. Before I read my manual on how to jumpstart, I thought I’d unveil this second part.
This is the second list of thirteen. OK, so it’s a baker’s thirteen. Sue me.
1. I worked as an embedded systems programmer, creating something that looked like a cable box and read stock quotes broadcast between TV channels. I was charged with created the BIOS, which was a bit more complex than the ones you’d see in a PC-AT. I have pretty deep Geek chops.
2. I worked as a defense contractor. I can’t say it was related, but I was not permitted to leave the country for a couple years afterwards.
3. I am an airport planner. I do things like arrange the roads and parking and terminal buildings at airports.
4. When I took the ACT, I missed 4 questions in math. I missed 2 questions on the entire remainder of the test. Perversely, I chose a math-centric career. Kids, don’t do that at home.
5. I didn’t drink until I graduated high school. Nor did I have sex. That might explain why I am how I am.
6. I sang baritone in highschool until I got addicted to Journey. Subsequently, in the school performance choir I sang bass parts up to Irish tenor.
7. I was in four plays (two of them musicals) in highschool. I was the lead in three of them, although I can’t remember what they were.
8. The first thing I notice in women is their hair. Then their eyes. Never their boobs. When walking away, I am more likely to look at their shoes than their butts.
9. I had a photographic memory until I went to college. Even now I have a memory for the mundane. I have a particular affinity for music and lyrics.
10. I got paddled in elementary school for giving a girl a bloody nose. She and her friends held my arms and kicked me. They started it but they went unpunished… until after school.
11. Politically, I consider myself a conservative Constitutionalist.
12. If I am driving, I am speeding.
13. Grown women in pig-tails give me the heeby-jeebies. I have a strong repulsion towards pedophilia, and women attempting to look like school girls are repulsive.
14. Unlike the worst President since Carter, I believe that oral sex is sex. Also? I like oral sex.

What are some games or things I can do to improve my memory?
Question by ♥ Nichole[never gives up]♥: What are some games or things I can do to improve my memory?
I’m 16 and I can remember what has happened to me but I tend to forget things I get taught in school. I can be in class and learn something really important [or not important at all] and a half hour later, I forget what I was just taught. What are some games or things I can do to improve my memory? Anything I can do on line? Thanks.

I have a very bad memory when it comes to remembering phone numbers, directions, and rules of games.
Would it be possible to train my memory to remember 100 names and 100 phone numbers in a few hours by using Mnemonics and Association of Ideas?

I’m the same way. I have found out that having physical space and having time to get things done is my best remedy to keep an orderly lifestyle.
If I live in a crammy apartment and always find myself pressed for time, then my life is nothing but a complete chaos that never ends because of my lack of remembering things.
What do you think? Answer below!

Are You Living Under the Jackfruit Tree? (Great Things Happen Here!)
Great things happen here! It’s true, and when you’ve read this book you’ll understand why. As for the Jackfruit tree, I am not about to spoil it and tell you, you must read the ebook to find out.
This book will introduce you to concepts that will change your view of intelligence, of reading, to the very core of learning. If you think you know about speed reading, photographic memory (or eidetic memory). Think again. Shannon Panzo Ph.D. introduces the concept of “Mental Photography” an

Psychologist Art Markman has studied thinking for 20 years. In his new book, “Smart Thinking: Three Essential Keys to Solve Problems, Innovate, and Get Things Done,” he combines what’s known from cognitive research with a how-to approach.
Markman told USA Today what helps us and hinders us from making the most of what we know.
Question:Is your definition of “smart” different from what we consider overall intelligence? If so, how?
Markman: Smart and intelligent are related, but they really aren’t the same. The kinds of problems we give people on intelligence tests typically focus on the ability to solve very abstract problems that don’t resemble things you do on a daily basis. But when people are doing smart things in the world, they are solving problems. They are creating new things. They are saying things and thinking thoughts that have not been thought in that way before. Those are the kinds of things that are really smart behaviors.
Q:You say creating smart habits that can become useful habits helps people become smarter. How does that work?
Markman: Most of what we do day-to-day we do without thinking. That’s a good thing, because you don’t want to spend your life planning every single movement and every action. But the reason that this becomes central to smart thinking is because, as much as possible, you want to organize your life so that the things you do by habit are things that are going to promote smarter behavior.
Q:You also delve into how memory works. Why do people have so much trouble remembering names?
Markman: Memory is all about connection. Names are arbitrary. You often can’t remember this person’s name, but you remember where they work and that they have three kids. You remember all the stuff that was connected that made the person the person, but (not) this piece of information that’s arbitrary but really important — their name. The funny thing is as soon as you start thinking about this person, all of this other information comes back. You remember what they like and this joke they told you — just this one piece of it is hard to get at because it’s not really connected to anything.

Q:You say multitasking is dangerous.
Markman: Multitasking is one of the evils of the modern world. We really don’t do many things at once. What we do is split our time across all the different things we’re trying to do. And there are two problems with that. One is there’s a cost to switching back and forth between the things you’re trying to do and the other is if you’re participating in some kind of event that’s unfolding in time, you’re going to miss things when you switch your attention away from that event. If you’re sitting in a meeting and checking your e-mail at the same time, you’re not really doing both at same time, you’re doing a little bit of e-mail and a little bit of meeting. Anything that happens at the meeting while you’re working on the e-mail, you’ve just missed.
Q:What are the habits you call “self-limiting”?
Markman: We go to meetings and we’re supposed to learn something from the meeting, and as soon as we leave … we whip out a smartphone and start checking our messages and texts. The problem is that this habit of checking your smartphone is leaving what you remember about that meeting up to chance. One of the things that’s very effective in learning is spending a little bit of time at the very end of the experience reviewing what just happened and saying to yourself, what are the three most important things that just happened here. By moving too quickly on to the next thing, you’re not giving yourself a chance to make sure you figure out what it is you want to remember.
Q:How can we fight the downsides of multitasking?
Markman: Rather than multitask, I think we need to prioritize. I’m not saying at the end of a meeting …to spend the next hour pondering what just happened. But if you took 90 seconds and reviewed the meeting before you moved on to the next thing, you would do yourself a tremendous amount of good. I recommend people buy a little digital recorder and when you leave a meeting, summarize to yourself what just happened. You never have to listen to that recording again. The recorder is there primarily so you don’t feel stupid about talking to yourself. Taking 90 seconds helps to solidify the experience you just had and will improve your memory for it rather than just moving on to the next thing.
